Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) is an undergraduate programme designed to develop scientific knowledge, analytical thinking, practical skills, and research aptitude among students. The programme combines theoretical learning with laboratory experiments, practical activities, fieldwork, and scientific problem-solving.

Students can pursue their interests in disciplines such as Chemistry, Microbiology, and Zoology. The curriculum aims to build a strong foundation in scientific principles and prepare students for higher education, research, and employment in science-related industries.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC/Standard XII) examination in the Science stream or an equivalent examination recognized by the competent authority.

  • Admission is subject to the eligibility requirements, subject-combination rules, and other conditions prescribed by Savitribai Phule Pune University and the college for the relevant academic year.

Programme Structure

B.Sc. Chemistry

The Chemistry specialization explores the composition, structure, properties, and transformations of matter. Students develop knowledge of analytical, organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry through theoretical study and laboratory experiments.

B.Sc. Microbiology

The Microbiology specialization focuses on microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, viruses, and other microscopic life forms. Students learn microbial identification, laboratory methods, microbial growth, and the role of microorganisms in health, industry, agriculture, and the environment.

B.Sc. Zoology

The Zoology specialization deals with animal diversity, structure, function, evolution, behaviour, genetics, and ecology. Students gain practical experience in biological observation, specimen study, biodiversity, and understanding animal life and its environment.

Career Prospects

Graduates of the B.Sc. programme can pursue employment in scientific, industrial, healthcare-support, environmental, educational, and research-related sectors. Career opportunities depend on the specialization, additional qualifications, practical experience, and recruitment requirements.

Higher education opportunities: Graduates may pursue M.Sc. in their respective subjects, specialized postgraduate programmes, research degrees, and relevant professional or skill-based courses. Some positions require postgraduate qualifications, certifications, or competitive examinations.
